According to a Radar report, Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man 3 cost the studio at least $350 million for production alone. Add to that the extensive costs of marketing and promotion, and the total cost of the film could reach half a billion dollars, making the film the most expensive ever made. Sony, already enduring criticism for its struggling PlayStation 3, called the $350 million estimate a “complete fabrication.”

Spidey 3 producer Laura Ziskin also disputed the report. “I refuse to say the [real] number because it makes me choke,” she said. “Spider-Man 3 was a super-expensive movie—the most expensive film we’ve ever made. But there’s no way you can get to $300 million.”
