Singer Katy Perry who was made famous by the hit song ‘I Kissed a Girl’ (and she liked it) is rumored to be lined up to play the girlfriend of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in the new biopic about him!
Perry is being considered to play Mary Austin, who dated Mercury for 6 years in the 70s before the infamous singer admitted to being bisexual and the couple separated. The couple remained close however, even after the split, with Mercury often referring to Austin as his ‘common-law’ wife!
It is no secret that Perry is a massive fan of Mercury and friends of the singer say she is really excited about the possibility of being cast to play his girlfriend in the new movie. She has previously described him as her ‘musical idol’ and even dressed up as him for her birthday party in 2008!!
Sacha Baron Cohen of Ali G and Borat fame is set to play Mercury in the movie, which is being produced by Academy Award winner Graham King. It focuses on his rise to fame with the renowned rockers Queen and their memorable Live Aid performance in 1985!
