Ronald Poppo (right) and Rudy Eugene, left
A fund has been set up to assist Ronald Poppo, 65, the homeless man who was savagely attacked on Miami’s MacArthur Causeway last week.
The gruesome attack on Poppo has caused shockwaves around the world because of its unusual nature. Poppo, who has been homeless for 30 years, was assaulted by Rudy Eugene, 31, who has been called the Miami Zombie. Eugene brutally tore apart and ate Mr. Poppo’s face with his teeth, before he was shot by police, but the attack went on for nearly 18 minutes and left Mr. Poppo seriously disfigured and currently fighting for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
If you want to make a donation to the fund for Mr. Poppo can do so through the website www.jmf.org. To contribute click the ‘Take Action Now’ tab, then click on donations. Once you are on the donation page, select “other” in the contribution details section and input: Ronald Poppo.
Checks can be sent to Jackson Memorial Foundation, Park Plaza East, Suite G, 901 N.W. 17th Street, Miami, FL 33136.
My heart goes out to that poor guy, I can only imagine the kind of pain he is in. Facial reconstruction experts have said that he will have to undergo extensive surgery to repair some the damage that was done to his face in the attack. Apparently this wasn’t the first time he has been attacked either, according to hospital records he was shot in 1976 in Bayfront Park!
