Tokyo-based Japanese designer Kazuhiro Watanabe has broken the Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest Mohawk and he has done it in style – beating the previous record by more than a foot!!
Watanabe’s impressive Mohawk measures an astonishing 3ft, 8.6 inches and it is a wonder that it doesn’t mess with his center of gravity when he’s wandering around the place! It took him 15 years to grow his hair to that length and when it isn’t styled in a Mohawk it reaches down to his knees.
The honor of having the world’s tallest Mohawk had belonged to German Stefan Srocka, his measured 31.5 inches – but Watanabe’s simply dwarfs it!
The hairstyle that helped Watanabe realize his dream and make into the Guinness hall of fame took 3 cans of hairspray and a huge bottle of gel to perfect, but for him it was totally worth it.
He actually travelled to New York’s Washington Square Park to launch the Guinness World Records 2013 edition, where his epic hairstyle has been immortalized in print forever!
When asked what his motivations were, Watanabe told reporters: “I really wanted to be in the Guinness World Record book…I considered trying to set the record for drinking most tabasco sauce.”
We have it on good authority that all of Watanabe’s internal organs were ecstatic when he decided to opt for the Mohawk plan instead of the tasasco sauce!!
Apparently though, Watanabe needs to watch his back, his 10-year-old daughter is determined to take his record!! Jeez, I feel sorry for the bathroom plughole at their family home!
