Tired of the same old jewelry, bored of silver, gold and the other precious metals that people have used for generations to adorn themselves? Well how about an accessory with a difference, the ‘Secret Skin’ designs of Jewelry graduate I-Ting Ho.

I-Ting-Ho’s collection are incredibly unusual indeed, made from a type of silicone that looks uncannily like human skin – you can get earrings, broaches, keyrings and other accessories that all look a little like you pilfered them from Leatherface’s jewelry box.

The ‘Secret Skin’ collection were put together by I-Ting-Ho as part of her final project for her postgraduate degree in jewelry, silversmithing & related products which she is studying at Birmingham City University. She explained to Wired.co.uk that the project was a way of “discussing human behavior about aesthetics”, and in particular the way “that [people] use accessories to identify themselves”.

You’ve got to admit that it’s a fairly provocative project, so if you like to cause a stir and you can get over the weird-factor then I-Ting-Ho’s ‘Secret Skin’ collection might be worth adding to your jewelry collection. Personally I prefer amethyst and titanium, but each to their own I guess!
