You don’t normally hear the words ‘scientist’, ‘creates’ and ‘pizza’ thrown together in the same sentence, but that is just the case in this story. We kid you not, a scientist has created a healthy pizza!
Pizza-lovers everywhere will be pleased to hear the news that this pizza so healthy that you can eat it for all 3 of your main meals, every single day!! So for those of you who just can’t get enough of the cheesy treat but worry incessantly about piling on the pounds and getting podgy around the middle – there is a new hope!
Created by Glasgow University’s Mike Lean, the wonder-pizza is completely nutritionally balanced. Each one contains 30% of the guideline amounts of vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrate and calories that an adult should consume!
Lean (yes, aptly, that is his actual name) said that he was spurred on to create the pizza because of the bad nutritional properties of the vast majority of convenience foods! Lean’s Pizza has lots of interesting ingredients to help increase its nutritional value, like the extra red pepper added to the tomato sauce to up the vitamin C levels and the extra magnesium, folates and vitamin A that is also thrown in!!
He claims that you could eat his pizza 3 times a day, every day without seeing a single negative health effect!
However, what remains to be seen is if Lean’s pizza will pass the taste test! Unfortunately for junk-food fans, more often than not, their low calorie, healthier stunt doubles just don’t manage to match up in the taste department. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
A standard margarita and a venison topped version of Lean’s pizza will hit UK supermarket shelves later in the year.
