New Study Finds That Half Of Consumers Value A Brand’s Facebook Page More Than Website

The results of a new study by market research company Lab42 has highlighted the importance of social media for the purposes of branding and offers some interesting insights as to how a brand can successfully promote itself via the medium of social media platform Facebook.

Lab42 surveyed 1000 social media users, asking them numerous questions about the way in which they interact with brands on Facebook and the results suggested that the 50% of users believe that a brand’s Facebook page is more useful than its website.

The survey discovered: 87% ‘like’ brands on Facebook, 75% felt more connected to them via the social media platform, 69% would ‘like’ a brand because a friend did and the biggest motivation to like a brand was the offer of promotions and discounts with 34% of people stating that was their main reason.

But it’s not all good news for Facebook branding, companies that are promoting their products via the platform also need to be aware that 75% had no problem ‘un-Liking’ a brand and the biggest reason for this was if they posted too frequently. No one wants their newsfeed clogged up and inundated with pointless posts – so brands need to stay sharp and keep it relevant!

The infograph produced by Lab42 shows further insights from their study and could be an important source of information for people who want tips on how to brand their product on Facebook.
