Hackers Break Into Emergency Alert System & Announce Zombie Apocalypse

Viewers of several Montana television networks were given quite a shock when hackers managed to crack network security, get into the Emergency Alert System and use it to warn viewers about the impending doom of a zombie apocalypse.

The Emergency Alert interrupted The Steve Wilkos show on KRTV and after the warning tone sounded a man’s voice informed viewers that “bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living.”
The message tells viewers to stay tuned in for updates about what to do and warns them not to approach the bodies or make any attempts to apprehend them because they are considered “extremely dangerous”.

Several viewers actually telephoned their local police departments to find out if there was any truth in the disturbing alert, but there were no real reports of widespread panic as most people figured out that it was a likely to be a hoax.

After the incident KRTV announced that the message was a fake, posting this statement to their website;
“Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that there was an emergency in several Montana counties…This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.”

Perhaps the pranksters were Orson Welles fans trying to recreate the mass hysteria that occurred when the general public believed that his 1938 radio reading of the H.G. Wells novel ‘War of the Worlds’ was actually happening. The radio broadcast shocked millions of listeners and there were numerous reports of people running out of their homes screaming or packing up there things and fleeing because they believed the world was being attacked by Martians!!
