Mysterious ‘Goat Man’ Seen In Utah Wilderness

People have identity crisis’ all the time, sometimes they try desperately to be like their cooler mates, other times they try and emulate a celebrity or a character in their favorite film, but it appears that one Utah resident seems to think he’s actually a goat and has been spotted in the northern Utah mountains wandering around with a herd of them!

Photographer Coty Creighton spotted the mysterious ‘Goat Man’ whilst out in the mountains on a hike and got several photographs of him. He initially saw one goat lagging behind the rest of the herd and assuming that it may have been injured, he took out his binoculars to get a better look. That was when he realized that what he was looking at wasn’t actually a goat at all, but rather a man dressed in a somewhat crudely made costume. Creighton told The Associated Press that the ‘Goat Man’ was clumsily working his way down the cliff in an attempt to reach the other goats.

The costume, which Creighton said looked homemade, consisted of fake horns and a cloth mask with eye holes which the ‘Goat Man’ occasionally pulled up to get a better view of the terrain (good to see he’s staying in character then). Maybe he should have contacted Acme about his desire to be a ‘real’ goat, they might have been able to provide him with a better disguise!

At one point Creighton thought that our Goat guy had spotted him, because he looked in his direction and then froze on the spot. Creighton said: “He kind of slouched down, like was getting nervous or was feeling really self-conscious…He actually got off his hands and knees and sat on the hill for several minutes until he thought I was gone.”

Authorities in Utah are trying to identify the ‘Goat Man’ because despite the fact that he isn’t breaking any Utah laws (well thank the heavens for that, people should be free to be as goaty as they want) they still want to speak to him. Wildlife officials want to inform the ‘Goat Man’ about the risk of getting into a fight with an actual mountain goat (word on the street is that they can be pretty badass in a scuffle). They also want to warn the man about the danger of being mistaken for wild game in the upcoming hunting season!
