It was posted to Reddit by OhioUPilot12 under the heading “Facebook God gave me a Halloween costume idea” and everyone assumed that they were the inventor and wearer of the brilliant costume, however Redditor SpinJump appeared and seemed a little pissy that someone else had taken the internet karmic credit for his awesome costume and claimed that it was actually in fact his Anime Weekend Atlanta costume.

OhioUPilot12 then claimed that the description posted under the image had led to the unfortunate misunderstanding and that he/she had not actually tried to take credit for the Monkey Jesus.

I wonder if Cecilia Giménez, the elderly Spanish lady who was responsible for the original bungled restoration which saw the painting of Jesus Christ look like “a crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic” will try and claim copyright dibs on this costume too!
