Guy Ritchie and Madonna quickie divorce
Guy Ritchie and Madonna officially ended their seven year marriage today in the space of just a few minutes.
Their case - Ciccone M L v Ritchie G S - was listed before District Judge Reid along with 16 others ‘for pronouncement of decree or order under the special procedure rule’.
The couple were granted their decree nisi, with their decree absolute expected in six weeks.
A sworn statement released by the court showed that Madonna petitioned for divorce on the grounds of Ritchie’s unreasonable behaviour.
In a question and answer form, she said the behaviour was continuing.
Asked whether they had lived together, since the date of the petition, for six months at the same address, the reply was ‘No’.
Madonna signed the affidavit in Beverley Hills.
Neither Madge nor Guy were present at the clinical Principal Registry of the Family Division in High Holborn, London, this morning.
Madonna is in Philadelphia for the latest leg of her Sticky and Sweet world tour while Guy’s in Liverpool with sons Rocco and David filming Sherlock Holmes.
Reports claim Ritchie will walk away with the 1,200 Ashcombe House estate in Wiltshire and the couple’s £2.5($4)million Punchbowl pub in Mayfair and a shared 50/50 custody agreement over the kids.
A source says: ‘All is not quite what it seems. The deal is 50/50 in terms of child access. On paper anyway, Guy will not take any money. However all the security, travel and any other arrangements with the children will be funded by Madonna. She has also agreed to give him a £2($3.5)million sweetener as a kind of gift. This will not be seen in the court paperwork. She will maintain his standard of living for the children. However that arrangement will also not be seen in the court paperwork.
We’re glad it’s all over now for the kids’ sake.
