Fandalism is the brainchild of San Francisco-based musician Philip “pud” Kaplan and it is site for musicians to post videos of their skills and meet other musicians.
He said he wanted his site to be a “directory of every good musician in the world… where we can show our skills and connect with other nearby musicians for jamming and whatnot.”
So far more than 500,000 musicians have joined up to Fandalism, which suggests that it is something that musicians have been crying out for!
If you are a budding musician looking to meet others with similar tastes and styles, Fandalism could be the answer to your musical prayers. You can join the site through its Facebook app.
Those of you musical types living in New York might also be interested in going along to the open jam session on the 6th October 2012 in Washington Square Park. It starts at 12 and goes on till 3pm. I’m sure those of you who aren’t musicians but who appreciate a free-flowing jam will also be welcome to go along and watch the performance!
Interesting muso fact courtesy of Laughing Squid: 10% of adults are considered to be musicians, 2% of those are drummers and 6.7% are guitarists. Hmmm, only 10%, must be the circles I run in, I swear more than half of the people I know are musicians…
