Brian Bonsall, who played Andy on Family Ties as a child, pled guilty to third degree assault against his girlfriend, after alledegly pouring an alcoholic drink on her face while she slept and putting her in a choke hold.  In response, Brian said that he was simply defending himself after she’d cut his arm and face with a steak knife.

If anyone out there has ever seen an episode of Cops, you know well that the “She hit me first” defense rarely, if ever, works.

It didn’t work for Bonsall.

The once-actor and now-facially pierced “musician” has been sentenced to two years probation and three weeks of community service in which he will be required to watch old episodes of Family Ties on DVD.

The ACLU has been contacted, as many think this punishment is inhumane.
