Sorry if I got your hopes up there, but it sounds as if Brit’s disappearing act will only be temporary (much to the relief of Perez Hilton and Us Magazine).

The Troubled One’s much-hyped performance at next month’s MTV Video Music Awards is going to be directed by the Mindfreak himself – Criss Angel.  The magician is planning a series of on-stage tricks for Brit’s performance in which she vanishes and reappears.  Ah, if only the illusion were to become a reality. But then, we wouldn’t be able to bring you the latest coverage of Brit’s parenting skills, bowel movement consistency, and hairstyle choices.  Because, as well all know, Brit’s business is our business, too.

The illusionist is also planning to harness Brit’s dancers to avoid any of them impregnating her on-stage.  (Juuuuust kidding!)  They’ll actually be harnessed for what is being referred to as “simulated flight.”  Should be interesting.

We’ll just have to hope that Angel can help pull off the biggest challenge of his life — making Britney’s career reappear.  But then, if he could pull off scoring with Cameron Diaz with that face and that hair, he can probably pull off anything.
