Ed Sheeran Gets Album Chart Top Spot

Buzz Patrol’s man of the moment, Ed Sheeran has shifted Adele’s 21(3) off the top of the official Album Chart this week with his triple platinum selling debut album ‘+’.

‘+’ which features hit singles, ‘The A-Team’, ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ and ‘Lego House’ has become the fastest selling digital debut album in chart history after its release in September 2011.

Ed Sheeran had a massive internet fan base prior to his chart success but really hit the headlines when the A-Team stormed to the top of the UK charts at the end of June 2011.

The video, which narrates the tragic tale of the teenage prostitute that the song is about, was filmed for a massive budget of about 20 quid, and features star performances from Ed’s friends.
Constantly being shown on the all the UK’s top music channels, it was hard to spot the difference between this video, and those costing thousands of pounds.
‘+’ has amounted unit sales of approximately 881,000 since its release, and after a hugely successful UK tour, those sales are increasing.

The album race is incredibly close though, with just over a thousand copies separating those in the top three. Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto is in second, while Adele has dropped to third.
Ed Sheeran’s latest single ‘Drunk’ (shown above) has just been released, the video features him drowning his sorrows with a very protective pet cat.
