Geeky Treats: Dragon Ball Z Cake Balls

Rosanna Pansino is known on YouTube for a lot of different things, be it cosplay, game play, reviews, or her vlogs about Ireland. However, what she’s probably most well known for are her Nerdy Nummies videos, in which she crafts geeky recipes and shows us how to make them. In her latest video, she makes Dragon Ball Z crème brûlée cake balls.

To make these Dragon Ball Z cake balls, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Heavy cream
  • Corn syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Four eggs
  • Sugar
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Star sprinkles

You’ll also need one whole sheet of white cake, and for that you can just go to the store to purchase an easy-to-make box of cake mix. You’ll also  need some crème brûlée, though Rosanna says in her video that you can buy already made crème brûlée from the store, if you’d like. Once you have both your white cake and crème brûlée, you’re ready to begin.

First, cut your white cake into sections and rub those sections over a bowl. Once you have a bowl full of cake crumbs, scoop the crème brûlée into the bowl as well. Mix the cake crumbs and crème brûlée together. Next, take out a baking sheet with wax paper on it. Grab a handful of your mixture and roll it into a ball, about the size of a golf ball, then repeat until your baking sheet is full and your bowl is empty. You’ll then put your baking sheet into the freezer for two hours. Once time is up, take them out and reroll for a more perfect circular shape.

Next comes the sugar dip. Mixing water, corn syrup, and sugar together, place all of that in a pot on your stove. Once the mixture has turned a shade of golden brown, remove the pot from the heat and place it into a large bowl of ice cold water. Then you can begin dipping your cake balls into the sugar dip (using lollipop sticks). Finally, decorate the balls with star sprinkles to give them that special Dragon Ball Z touch. Make sure to use only the red stars!

And presto! You’ve got some Dragon Ball Z cake balls ready to be devoured!
