You would be mistaken for thinking that this awesome Tumbler is actually straight off the set of one of the Dark Knight movies, however it is actually a street legal vehicle created by international racing crew Team Galag for 2013’s Gumball 3000 Rally!
Vehicles participating in the Gumball 3000 are often on the unusual side, but Team Galag will really stand out with this incredible Tumbler based on the supercar driven by Batman in Nolan’s hugely successful Dark Knight trilogy.
The vehicle is a 2.5 tonne cross between a Lamborghini and a tank and can reach top speeds of over 100mph. It has a 400hp 6.2 liter V8 engine and was commissioned by the Florida-based Parker Brothers Concepts.
As you would imagine, trying to emulate the expensive, impressive gadgets used by Bruce Wayne’s alter ego doesn’t come cheap and Team Galag has reportedly invested over £1million on the incredible vehicle.
It will be showcased in London later this month before heading for the Gumball 3000 starting line in Copenhagen on May 18th.
“One of our team members is crazy about all things Dark Knight, and it’s been an idea of his to build a Tumbler for a while now…So we thought why not go one step further and do it in time for this year’s Gumball…We discussed the idea with Parker Brothers Concepts and it just happened that they’ve wanted to build one for a while now. When ideas line up like that, it can be very magical.”
The Gumball 3000, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, isn’t really your traditional kind of race. A prize isn’t given to the vehicle that finishes first, but those with flamboyant, gregarious vehicles are commended. The holy grail of Gumball trophies is “The Spirit of the Gumball” which is given to the team that best encompasses the rally’s creativity and fun-loving nature!
I haven’t seen the other vehicles entering the race, but as huge Dark Knight fan, this vehicle would definitely get my vote!
120 of the world’s most exotic, unusual and powerful sports cars will take part in the 3,000 mile race that goes across several different countries. It is the brainchild of British entrepreneur and car enthusiast Maximillion Cooper. Over the years, several celebrities and high profile individuals have taken part in Gumball 3000 – which markets itself as more of an adventure than a race!
