Curiosity Finds The Sun

 Curiosity Finds The Sun

This photograph is the first one taken by the navigation camera on NASA’s Mars rover the Curiosity. In it you can clearly see the shadow of the Curiosity’s mast in the middle, and the shadow cast by the arm to the left.

The Curiosity’s navigation camera is used to locate the sun, the Curiosity needs this information in order to communicate with the team on earth. After the camera pointed at the sun, it then turned in the opposite direction and captured this image. The way the shadows fall in the picture, confirm the sun’s location.

The AR (Augmented Reality) tag in the foreground, will soon enable smartphone users to discover more information about the Curiosity’s antics on Mars.
