Connecticut Lawmaker Ernest Hewett is under fire after making inappropriate comments to a 17-year-old student who was speaking at a committee meeting at the Connecticut State House of Representatives.
The teenage girl was talking about the virtues of Connecticut Science Center and how working there helped improve her confidence and to overcome her fear of snakes, when Deputy House Speaker Rep Hewett piped up with the comment; “If you’re bashful I got a snake sitting under my desk here.”
The others at the committee meeting seemed to find Hewett’s inappropriate comment rather amusing as laughter can be heard on the recording of the incident but the reaction since then has been anything but positive towards the Democrat.
Another case of a politician speaking without engaging the brain me thinks. What do you think will happen to Hewitt? Should he be punished for his lewd comments?
