We’ve featured a fair share of oddball vending machines on this site over the years, some have content that is just insane; live crustaceans, fresh pizza, cupcakes, caviar etc. pretty much everything is available in a vending machine these days.

This particular vending machine, located in Shibuya, Japan, is not weird because the contents are unusual, but rather because they are not. Bananas are a pretty common fruit in most parts of the world, I guess we are just not used to seeing them in vending machines.
I suppose it tells you how popular vending machines are in a country when you start finding ones that dispense bananas!

I just hope that they check the stock in it regularly, otherwise it would look like they were dispensing big brown turds in a packet and nobody wants that! Continue Reading

Igloo’s are perhaps one of the most awesome things you can build when there’s snow outside, but from now on no igloo you build will ever surpass this rainbow igloo.

When Daniel Gray went to Edmonton, Canada, with his girlfriend, Kathleen Starrie, for their winter break. An engineering student coming all the way from New Zealand, Daniel embarked on the amazing quest of building her this rainbow igloo in his time in Canada. Kathleen’s mother, Brigid Burton, wanted to give Daniel something to do (besides her daughter) while he was staying with them over the break. She had been saving these milk cartons filled with colored water since October and was keeping them in the freezer, knowing that Kathleen was planning on bringing Daniel home with her. The project took about 150 hours and 500 bricks, but in the end Daniel, along with some of Kathleen’s family and friends, was successful. If anyone was going to invent a toilet that you could control via Bluetooth on your Smartphone it would be the Japanese. They simply love technological advancement, even in products where you never expect it.

This Satis toilet from Lixil sounds as though it is more advanced than some of the laptops I have owned over the years. It is controlled via the My Satis Andriod App and users can use the app to lift the toilet seat, flush, or play music through the toilet’s speakers!

Those of you wanting to bring some bling to your festive season might be interested in this revolving gold Christmas “tree” which is covered in infamous Disney characters like Tinker Bell, Cinderella and Mickey Mouse.

You might have to rob a bank or get a loan secured against your house (and all your friend’s houses) to get your hands on it though, because this particular decoration will cost you something in the region of $4.2 million (350 million yen)!!

It took 10 craftsmen 2 months to complete and stands nearly 8ft tall. It was made using 40kg (88 pounds) of pure gold and is decorated with gold plate silhouette cutouts of 50 of Disney favorites.
