Heath Ledger’s outstanding performance in the new Batman film ‘The Dark Knight,’ is the stand out performance of the year and we’re backing his portrayal of the sinister joker for an Oscar nod next year.

His co-star Batman himself Christian Bale has revealed that Ledger gained inspiration for his performance from watching the Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious.

It seems that rock stars are good inspirations for actors as if you remember Johnny Depp in the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy based Captain Jack on Keith Richards of Rolling Stones fame.

Downey Jr. fresh from his role in Iron Man is set to star in Guy Ritchie’s new movie “Sherlock Holmes”.

Variety reported Downey is committed to the Ritchie’s directed movie, which begins shooting in October, after Ritchie turned in a polish of the latest version of the script.

Like Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes will take advantage of his physical skills.

Downey’s Sherlock Holmes character will tough as well as smart.

Columbia Pictures Sherlock Holmes starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell is also in production soon.

We’re looking forward to seeing both.

the dark knight

Director Kevin Smith raves over The Dark Knight batman movie on his MySpace blog after seeing an early screening of it.

He wrote:

Without giving anything away, this is an epic film (and trust me: based on the sheer size and scope of the visuals and storytelling, that’s not an overstatement). It’s the “Godfather II” of comic book films and three times more earnest than “Batman Begins” (and fuck, was that an earnest film). Easily the most adult comic book film ever made. Heath Ledger didn’t so much give a performance as he disappeared completely into the role; I know I’m not the first to suggest this, but he’ll likely get at least an Oscar nod (if not the win) for Best Supporting Actor. Fucking flick’s nearly three hours long and only leaves you wanting more (in a great way). I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed by it. Nolan and crew have created something close to a masterpiece.

Retiring? hopefully!!

Hurrah!

He has revealed to TV Extra that his upcoming flick “Meet Dave” will probably be his last, he says,”"I have close to fifty movies and it’s like, why am I in the movies?….I’ve done that part now. I’ll go back to the stage and do standup.”

He hasn’t made anything worthwhile in years, so it is about time he stop making movies.

WALL-E Ranks High in the Box Office

on : 30-06-08 Posted by : Justin Dupre

Sound’s like Wall-E is doing pretty well in the box-office making 62.5 million dollars. This G-rated Disney/Pixar production has been getting pretty good reviews for a kid flick, but I hear some parts of it can be entertaining for adults. I’ll hit it up soon and let you know how it is when I get back from it.

Following up WALL-E in box office charts were:

2. “Wanted,” $51.1 million.

3. “Get Smart,” $20 million

4. “Kung Fu Panda,” $11.7 million

5. “The Incredible Hulk,” $9.2 million

6. “The Love Guru,” $5.4 million
