You’d be forgiven if you thought the headline for this article was some sort of joke or a quote out of Science Fiction movie or TV show, but let me assure you that it isn’t. The Japanese company, Neurowear, who lead the way when it comes to the production of fashion accessories which are operated by your brainwaves have announced that their mind controlled car ears are ready to hit the market.
A YouTube video teaser for the product, called Nekomimi, which was released in the spring of 2011 had cat enthusiasts and gadget geeks hoping around eagerly in anticipation for the products general release! Now the wait is finally over, with the product expected to hit the stores by the end of April!
Nekomimi’s cat ears elevate when the wearer is concentrating and lie flat when the wearer is relaxed. I’m quite intrigued as to what they do if the wearer is really damn angry, trying to attract other felines or out hunting mice!!
It is an absolutely fascinating product, and begs the question, if they can make some cat ears respond to our feelings then what else can they do! I would really love to take a peek inside their inventor labs to see what else they are planning. The Neurowear website said of the product:
“People think that our bodies have limitations, but just imagine if we had organs that don’t exist, and could control that new body?”
Nekomimi will be available to buy at the Neurowear stand at the Nico Nico Super Conference in Chiba at the end of April, where they will be on sale for a special discounted rate of 7,900 yen. After the event they will then go on sale for 8980 yen. That translates roughly to $110 or £70, but we are yet to find out when Nekomimi will make its way onto North America or European shores! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long!
If there are any Neurowear executives reading this, guys I really want an Avatar tail, preferably one that will enable me to swing from trees and connect to my nearest dragon-like creature and sore through the skies!
