Burner Burner iOS App Creates Disposable Numbers So You Can be a Creeper

Nobody wants to be a creeper. But if for some reason you have a need for disposable numbers, then you’ll be glad to know that there is now an app for that: Burner. No need to buy SIM cards by the dozen anymore, because this app will create temporary and fully-functional numbers for you, whenever you need them.

The app is described as something that can add a ‘layer of privacy’ for your phone by providing it with ‘alias phone numbers.’ Of course, that’s what the app and service will turn out to be–if people use it the right way. Let’s just hope it won’t give stalkers or creepers free reign to make crank calls and scare the crap out of their unwilling targets.

With Burner, you can make and receive calls over your actual phone line (and call minutes) using the burner numbers. This keeps your real number private in both directions.

When you first get the app (which is priced at $1.99), it comes loaded with enough credits to create 1 mini-burner that will expire after 20 minutes of voice time or after 60 messages. Either you use that all up or it expires by itself at the end of seven days. If you want more numbers or burners that last longer, then you’ll need more credits to buy more. Once a number is burned, they stay burned for good and can’t be recovered anymore, so burn wisely.

Here’s a video of the app in action:

You can get Burner from the iTunes App Store for $1.99. 3-credit packs are priced at $1.99, while 8-credit packs go for $4.99. Pricing for different burner options and extensions can be accessed in the app.
