NBC Olympics Commentary Derp: Anchors Admit To Not Knowing Tim Berners-Lee

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I thought that television anchors were supposed to seem informed and know a little bit about the subject they are discussing whilst on the air?

Well it seems like NBC anchors Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer didn’t get this memo, whilst commentating on the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony they admit openly to not knowing who Tim Berners-Lee is!

Daddy of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners Lee was honored in the opening ceremony and Vieira and Lauer mention this stating: “Tim being Englishman Tim Berners-Lee… if you haven’t heard of him, [laugh], we haven’t either.”

Come on guys, some poor little intern is stuck in a stuffy office all day doing research so you don’t sound totally daft and they you go and ruin it by saying something like that!

Newflash: Not knowing who invented the internet is not something to be proud of!

Er but you have compounded the error by saying ”
Not knowing who invented the internet is not something to be proud of!”… the WWW sits on top of the Internet. The Internet was invented by DARPA in the early 70s. The WWW was invented by TBL at CERN in the 90′s.
