While the air umbrella is still just a concept in the works and, if it does get made, won’t be purchasable for some time, here’s a first look at what we may be using for umbrellas in the future
The air umbrella, created by Je Sung Park and Woo Jung Kwon, is a portable rod that allows you to create a canopy of air to protect yourself from the rain. The hollow rod, when functioning, sucks air in from the bottom and then blows it out from the top in order to create the air canopy. This product allows you to control the size of the canopy, and how long you want the rod of your umbrella to be as well.
I’m a little skeptical on the eco-friendly claim attached to this product. While we would be saving on the materials used regularly to make umbrellas, this product would still be using up energy in order to operate. Hopefully its creators will come up with green friendly techniques to improve upon this concept.
Even so, we may well be looking at the umbrella of the future.
