DJ AM also known as Adam Goldstein has died at the age of 36.
So sad!
He was found dead on Friday afternoon at around 5 PM in his New York apartment with prescription pill bottles near his body – he was shirtless and wearing sweatpants.
A pipe commonly used to smoke drugs was also found inside the bedroom.
Formerly engaged to Nicole Richie, DJ AM and Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina way back in 2008, where four people died.
According to NBC New York, “DJ AM had not been heard from for a few days, and one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.
The friend then called the police, but it was the Fire Department that broke into the apartment and found the DJ’s body.”
DJ AM was last seen in public last Sunday at a Mets game at Citi Field in NYC.
His last Tweet was posted on August 25th “New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.” The words are from the opening line from a Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five song “New York, New York.”
On Wednesday this week, an interview with the DJ was posted on Phrequency.
UPDATE: I’m hearing that AM had been battling with depression lately and he had been “completely devastated” over a breakup with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood last week.
DJ AM has been sober for nine years, and it seems the breakup together with the post-traumatic stress over the plane crash last year could have caused the DJ to start using drugs again.
UPDATE #2: A mouthpiece for DJ AM has just released this statement: “Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”
UPDATE #3: The autopsy of DJ AM was done by The Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City today.
They don’t know the real cause of death yet, so more tests, including toxicology are needed. This could take several weeks to complete.

I can not believe DJ Am died… That is soo crazy…. He just survived in a plane crash and now this… OMG i am in shock
